Why Weight Watchers Points: Any One Know?

How many times have you been around a Weight Watcher’s member or group of members discussing “Points”. “How many Points in that? “ “How many Points do you think I ate?” Until recently, I had no idea what they were talking about. That’s when I started doing my homework. I felt like I must be missing out on something good.

Here’s what I discovered:

Weight Watchers points are assigned to every item of food based on that food’s calories, fiber and fat content. Members are assisted by a “weight watchers points” and “weight watchers point system” which can be obtain at a local Weight Watchers Center. This program is also offered online through their official program website, where one can find support, point menus and calculators.

The main key to the success of this Points Plan is the teaching of portion control and the education the member receives on the nutritional value of certain foods. Members can be frequently seen in Grocery stores, checking all labels and making the healthiest choices. If not careful I have heard many members say that this practice can lead to an obsession over food.

Another positive aspect of the Weight Watchers Points Plan, is the freedom and flexibility this program offers. No food is off limits. One just needs to have proper planning and make the best choices.

Weight Watchers also offers another plan called the Core Plan. This option is more along the lines of South Beach Diet and gives you a list of “Core Foods” which can be consumed in unlimited quanities. These mostly consist of whole grains, lean proteins, fruits and vegatables. Then you are allowed a certain amount of points for anything that does not fall in that “Core List”

After joining Weight Watchers and following the Points Plan I was very satisfied with the results I have had. The experience was generally positive, but the only thing I was a little dissatisfied with was the group meetings I attended. I think it was just the location I attended. I decided not to let this bother me. I looked online and found a different location to attend. There were actually 8 centers within a 10 mile radius of my house. This meeting fit my personality better and was much more enjoyable. The people at the new location were more compatible and were just the piece I needed to make my Weight Watchers experience a postive one.
